As most of you already know, our VP Tom Martin has been recovering from critical injuries he sustained on September 3rd which will take nearly a year to heal from, meaning a wheelchair and inability to perform normal work duties.

While Tom survived and the fantastic medical professionals put him back together again (where have I heard that before??), the unfortunate reality is the medical insurance doesn’t come close to covering the significant costs to save one’s life and limbs.

The Burlington Lions Club and our Chamber are hosting a Pasta Dinner fundraiser at the Burlington Men’s Club on Saturday, December 16th.

Sponsors & Raffle Items Needed

Our Chamber is asking all our members and friends of the Chamber to consider a Sponsor Donation to this event to defray costs and to maximize the much needed funds to offset the rising healthcare costs.

In addition, if you have a business that can donate a Raffle item for the cause, that would be fantastic!

Please RSVP to Jerry Burns, Chamber Secretary, ASAP if you wish to do a Sponsorship and/or a Raffle item.  We need to coordinate with Don Brunelle, Lions Club Treasurer, as they are making the same call to action from their membership.

Tommy has always been an active volunteer for many Burlington organizations since he was a child, learning from his father and now teaching his children.  Tommy never asked for accolades or awards (although we had to give him one this past year!) and this effort is by all who want to help someone who has always been there to help us.

I realize any business sponsorship and/or donation is something to think through as a business owner, but I do believe helping Tommy worry about healing instead of finances will get him back sooner to help all of us in the future!

How & Where to Send Checks

If you wish to receive a charitable donation for your monetary gift, please be sure to make out the check to ‘Connecticut Lions Charities, Inc.’.

Your check options are:

  • Mail to the Burlington Chamber of Commerce, PO Box 1179, Burlington CT 06013;
  • Or drop it off to our Treasurer, Rich Browning, at the Burlington Farmington Bank;
  • Or drop it off to our President, Peter Bevivino, at Burlington Insurance Agency from 10 am until 4 pm

Thank you to all our Chamber members & friends who will support Tommy and his family.  I know from my many years on the Chamber, many a Tavern Days would have been disasters without his help not to mention all the other things he has done in the past few years for us.
